Charitable Trusts

You can establish a trust that will provide yourself or loved ones with income for life or a specified number of years. At the end of the term of the trust, Talbot Humane will receive what is remaining in the trust. Setting up a charitable trust will also allow you to receive favorable tax benefits.

Life Insurance

You can name Talbot Humane the beneficiary of a new life insurance policy or you can transfer a life insurance policy that is no longer needed by your family to Talbot Humane. Naming Talbot Humane as beneficiary of a life insurance policy can offer favorable tax benefits and allow you to amplify your gift to the animals. Through a relatively small annual cost of the insurance premium, a benefit far in excess of what would otherwise be possible can be provided for Talbot Humane.

Charitable Gift Annuities

To establish an annuity, you can make a gift to Talbot Humane of cash or appreciated securities. In exchange, you or a loved one will receive fixed payments for life. At the end of the term of the annuity, Talbot Humane will receive the remaining principle. A charitable gift annuity can be funded for as little as $5,000. Beginning in 2010, any taxpayer, regardless of income level, can
transfer a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. Establishing a charitable gift annuity with Talbot Humane can help offset some of the additional taxes you would incur by making such a transfer.
