Talbot Humane - We're ALL About the Animals

Our Adoption Process, As Easy as 1, 2, 3!

STEP 1:

View our adoptable pets online or by visiting Talbot Humane.  Each pet will have an on-line bio & profile card that provides some basic information.  You may ask our friendly staff for additional details.  Once you have selected a pet(s) you are interested in, a simple 1 page application must be completed.  All applications will be considered on a basis of “best fit”.  (Even if you have not selected a pet, we strongly recommend that you complete an application and gain pre-approval, as it will make the process much faster once you have identified your pet of choice).

STEP 2:

Most animals exhibit different behavior when outside their kennel.  As a result, you will spend time with the pet either in our animal socialization room or doggie play yard.  If you are planning to adopt a dog and already own a dog, you will schedule a time with the adoption coordinator to bring your present dog to Talbot Humane for an introduction to the pet you are considering.  The dogs will assist you and the adoption coordinator in determining whether they are a good fit for one another.

STEP 3:

Once all required information is provided, the application evaluation process will generally be completed within 24-48 hours.  Assuming the application is approved and your living situation provides a “best fit” for the pet you wish to adopt, you will schedule an appointment with our adoption coordinator to sign a few forms, receive suggestions for introducing your new family member to your home, etc.  You will need to bring a carrier and/or a leash and collar suitable for your new family member.  Or, you may prefer to purchase a leash and collar (many, guaranteed for the life of your pet) at time of adoption at a 25% discount.

Enjoy many years of fun & companionship with your new pet!  Please also remember to send photos & updates for us to include on our website & Shleter Tales newsletter.  Our staff & volunteers sometimes spend hundreds of hours with our pets before they find their furrever homes & they really appreciate knowing how their furry friends are doing after leaving our adoption center.

THAT’S IT!
